Art Basel is making its clearest statement yet about digital art: it’s here to stay.

The leading art fair announced Zero 10, a new platform dedicated to digital art, launching at Art Basel Miami Beach this December.

The move reflects an evolution in the market. According to The Art Basel and UBS Survey of Global Collecting 2025, 51 percent of wealthy collectors bought digital art in 2024-2025. The medium now ranks third in overall spending, and its presence in private collections has more than quadrupled in the past year.

“Digital art is no longer at the margins — it is integral to how art and the market are evolving in real time,” said Noah Horowitz, Art Basel’s CEO. “With Zero 10, we’re creating a platform that delivers tangible outcomes for new and established artists, galleries, collectors, institutions and entrepreneurs alike — bridging creative experimentation with sustained market development.”

Inside Zero 10

The inaugural presentation features twelve exhibitors ranging from traditional galleries to digital-native platforms. OpenSea, the trading platform for NFTs and tokens, is supporting the launch as an official partner.

The lineup will feature AOTM, Art Blocks, Asprey Studio, Beeple Studios, bitforms gallery, Fellowship, Heft, Visualize Value, Nguyen Wahed, Onkaos, Pace Gallery, and SOLOS, alongside a presentation of Lu Yang, on loan from the UBS Art Collection, presented in collaboration with UBS, Art Basel’s Global Lead Partner.

Exhibiting artists include Andrea Chiampo, Beeple, Casey Reas, Dmitri Cherniak, IX Shells, Jack Butcher, James Turrell, Joe Pease, Kim Asendorf, Manfred Mohr, Mario Klingemann, Maya Man, Mpkoz, Tyler Hobbs, XCOPY, and Yatreda.

The presentations span the full range of digital practice. Fellowship will exhibit Itzel Yard’s “No Me Olvides,” which transforms archival fragments from Europe, the Caribbean, and Latin America into algorithmic compositions exploring memory, gender, and cultural inheritance.

bitforms gallery traces generative art’s evolution from Manfred Mohr’s pioneering computer drawings through Casey Reas’s neural-network Earthly Delights to Maya Man’s live generative work on online desire, showing how code has become a language of culture.

Asprey Studio collaborates with Ethiopian artist collective Yatreda to resurrect and reimagine an Akodama, a traditional crown from Ethiopia’s Amhara highlands once worn by chieftains and warriors as a symbol of nobility.

Pace Gallery presents a focused installation from James Turrell’s Glass series, immersing viewers in light and time and transforming perception itself into the artwork. Beeple Studios reinterprets pop portraiture through robotics and blockchain, interrogating the boundary between human and machine agency.

Nguyen Wahed’s presentation unites XCOPY’s dystopian glitch worlds, Kim Asendorf’s algorithmic minimalism, and Joe Pease’s hypnotic video loops, mapping the architectures of digital consciousness.

Lu Yang’s DOKU – Heaven (2022), on loan from the UBS Art Collection, extends the dialogue between art, technology, and transcendence. The single-channel video, rendered through motion-capture choreography and vivid 3D animation, immerses viewers in a hallucinatory digital realm where the artist’s avatar meditates on consciousness, transformation, and spiritual awakening in the virtual age.

Why Now?

The platform’s name references Kazimir Malevich’s groundbreaking 1915 exhibition “0,10,” where Russian avant-garde artists redefined art for a new century. Art Basel is positioning digital art as this era’s equivalent shift.

“Zero 10 brings together key forces across the digital art ecosystem —artists, studios, and galleries whose practices are reshaping how art is made, seen, and collected,” said curator Eli Scheinman. “From generative and algorithmic systems to robotics, sculpture, painting, light, and sound, the presentations highlight the diversity and conceptual sophistication of a field that has become integral to contemporary art and is now claiming its place within the broader market.”

The initiative follows several steps Art Basel has taken into digital territory, including a Digital Art Council comprised of leading artists, collectors, and tastemakers, a Digital Dialogues conversation series, and digital installations at recent fairs. But Zero 10 represents a more significant commitment, with plans to expand to other global Art Basel fairs in 2026.

Bridging Two Markets

Zero 10 attempts to connect two worlds that have largely operated separately: the traditional gallery-and-fair system and the digital art community that has built its own markets and infrastructure.

For digital artists and platforms, it offers access to Art Basel’s global collector base and institutional credibility. For Art Basel, it provides entry into a younger, tech-savvy collecting demographic and demonstrates relevance in a rapidly changing art landscape.

Whether this institutional embrace will accelerate digital art’s growth or change its experimental character remains an open question. But the platform’s existence reflects a clear turning point: digital art is moving from the periphery to the center of the contemporary art market.

Art Basel Miami Beach runs December 5-7, 2025, with VIP preview days December 3-4. Zero 10 will expand to additional fairs including Art Basel Hong Kong in 2026.
