Argonauts sold out its public sale in minutes on Wednesday, but the more revealing number is the one that never touched the shop. Of the 9,999-piece supply, 7,208 tokens were sold to the public at 0.12 ETH each, for 864.96 ETH in primary proceeds (roughly $2.1 million at the time of sale). The other 2,791 tokens, 28% of the collection, were reserved for free claims by existing collectors of the artist, sized per wallet by a published formula and pinned to a single Ethereum block. The project’s own framing is that Argonauts is a print run, not a profile-picture collection, and the mechanics support that description more than the sellout headline does.

This guide covers who made the collection, what an Argonaut actually is, how the free claims are calculated, what the terms rule in and out, and what the first day of secondary trading shows.

sold out in 5 minutes… fucking insane!

and remember, ack collectors with free claim, your claims are safe and sound, waiting for you if you didn't get to claim them yet

let me take a min to make another coffee, brb

Who Is a.c.k.?

Alpha Centauri Kid, who works as a.c.k., is one of the more established names in crypto-native art, with a record that predates most 10,000-piece collections. Born in San Antonio, Texas in 1986, he spent 14 years at the Department of Homeland Security before leaving to make art full time at the end of 2021, according to an OpenSea profile of the artist. His recurring motifs are glitch art, skulls, and pianos, and he attributes his output to “the Muse,” a framing that runs through every page of the Argonauts site.

His price history is the relevant benchmark for what his collectors are used to paying. His SuperRare debut, “ctrl + alt + generate,” sold to the collector Punk 6529 in October 2021 for 165 ETH, per OpenSea. A four-panel silkscreen from his “Muse” series later sold at Christie’s for $107,100. He collaborated with XCOPY on the 2021 “Last Orders!” collection and released “Broken Keys,” a 48-piece set of one-of-ones built in Cinema 4D, in 2022. Argonauts is a different product for a different buyer: 9,999 pieces at 0.12 ETH from an artist known for scarce, expensive individual works.

What Is Muse Facktory?

Muse Facktory is a.c.k.’s production studio, and Argonauts is its first release at scale. The artist began teasing the studio on X in mid-2024, describing it as “for artists, by artists (for collectors too).” The Argonauts about page frames the project as a step toward “print world domination,” and the studio’s debut product before Argonauts was an edition print called Synth Wave, whose buyers are named first among the free-claim recipients.

Beyond that, the studio has no published roadmap and no announced second collection. The Argonauts site describes itself as “a Muse Facktory production,” which suggests an imprint meant to recur, but that is an inference from branding. Treat Muse Facktory as the label on this project until the artist says more.

The Muse Facktory. For artists, by artists.

What an Argonaut Actually Is

An Argonaut is two things bound to one token: a hand-signed 4-by-4-inch physical print on textured “Chromasculpt” stock, and a digital twin stored fully on-chain as pure SVG inside an Ethereum mainnet contract. The 0.12 ETH price buys the digital. The print is optional, free to order, and never expires; shipping is arranged at the time of the order, per the project’s terms page. The site’s own tagline draws the distinction bluntly: “Not PFPs. MFPs. Muse Facktory Prints.”

The print’s status lives on the token. Every Argonaut carries a Print attribute on-chain that reads Claimed or Unclaimed, and only one print is ever produced per Argonaut. That has a consequence for the secondary market that most buyers will not think about at first: if you buy an Argonaut whose original holder already ordered the print, you own the digital and nothing else. The print belongs to whoever claimed it. A buyer paying a premium for a token should check that attribute before bidding.

The collection is generative with eight trait categories, according to OpenSea metadata: Artifact (2 variants), Bones (9), Cloak (5), Crown (7), Palette (19), Print (2, the Claimed/Unclaimed flag), Relic (1), and Sight (12). Tokens are “dealt blind, at random,” in the terms’ words. There is no reveal to wait for and no choosing at checkout.

Where the Rarity Is

Two trait categories carry almost all of the scarcity, and the market has already priced them. Bones (the skeleton material) and Palette (the color scheme) each have a steep tail, while the other six categories are distributed fairly evenly. The figures below are trait counts across the 8,815 tokens minted as of August 26, per OpenSea’s trait filters, so the percentages will shift slightly as the remaining claims come in.

Bones runs from common to near-unique in nine steps. Bone (3,981 tokens, 45%) and Prehistoric (2,181, 25%) account for seven in ten Argonauts. Silver (1,135), Coral (703), and Floral (454) fill the middle. The scarce end is Petrified (256, 2.9%), Gold (72, 0.8%), Radioactive (19, 0.2%), and Alien (9, 0.1%). Trait floors track that curve closely: Petrified listed from 0.479 ETH, Gold from about 1.5 ETH, Radioactive from 6.85 ETH, and Alien from 18.99 ETH, against a collection floor near 0.3 ETH.

Palette is broader but has an even thinner tail. Twelve of the 19 palettes each cover between 327 and 1,139 tokens. The remaining seven are the collection’s rarest attributes of any kind: Radioactive Void Charcoal (6), Radioactive Lavender (5), Bright Lilac (4), Radioactive Paper White (4), Radioactive Seafoam (4), Hot Rose (3), and Neon Mint (2). Listed floors for the Radioactive palettes ran from 6.85 ETH to 18.99 ETH at the time of writing; Neon Mint and Hot Rose had no listings at all.

The remaining categories are closer to flat, with a few exceptions. Crown has one true one-of-one, the Golden Fleece, and one scarce tier, Corsair (81, floor 0.50 ETH); the other five crowns each appear on 630 to 1,148 tokens. Cloak has Servant (110, floor 0.925 ETH) at the scarce end and Death (946) at the common end. Sight, the eyewear category, is nearly uniform across its twelve variants, with the seven fashion-house names (Prada through Dior) each on roughly 460 to 515 tokens. Artifact is a coin flip between THC Vape (2,502) and Woodpipe (2,632), with the remainder carrying no artifact. Relic has one variant, Gold, on 3,089 tokens, meaning about 35% of the collection carries a relic and 65% does not.

The Golden Fleece has already found a home. On August 26 the collector Adam Weitsman said he had acquired 100 Argonauts, including the Golden Fleece and one of the nine Aliens. a.c.k. said on X that he had held those two pieces back with Weitsman in mind, which is the one stated exception to the collection being dealt at random.

an absolute honor to see the Golden Fleece, the rarest of all 9,999, make its way to the esteemed Adam Weitsman collection, alongside an Alien and 98 more Argonauts.

i had Adam in mind when i held those two back. some pieces know where they belong.

One trait deserves separate attention. As of August 26, the Print attribute read Unclaimed on 8,809 tokens and Claimed on one. That is not a rarity signal; it reflects the fact that prints are ordered after the digital claim and almost nobody has ordered one yet. The number to watch is how quickly that ratio moves, because every print order permanently converts a token from a two-part product into a digital-only one.

How the Free Claims Work

The 2,791 reserved tokens are allocated by a snapshot of every wallet holding an a.c.k. work on Ethereum mainnet at block 25,792,675, taken August 20, 2026 at 00:14 UTC. Reading at a single block means every wallet was measured at the same instant, and anything bought after that block does not count. The snapshot found 1,602 addresses holding qualifying work, of which 1,167 qualify for at least one claim, per the project’s snapshot page.

The allocation formula is tiered by what the wallet held. Each ACKPFP earns ten Argonauts. Each Broken Keys piece earns two, as does each complete Great Color Study set. Each one-of-one, numbered-series work, or small-edition copy earns one. Holders of a Servant of the Muse additionally claim a “Servant hood” tied to their piece by name. Twenty-five collections qualify, spanning the artist’s SuperRare and Foundation output, his editions, the XCOPY collaboration, and smaller series such as Opepen, Clown Party, and Warothys. One exception is stated: ACK Editions #14, “Max Pain V2,” does not count.

Three details of the design matter for anyone modeling supply. First, the reserved 2,791 are held apart from the public 7,208, so a collector’s claim was never at risk from the sellout. Second, claims run for one month, concurrent with the shop, and unclaimed Argonauts stay with the Facktory rather than returning to the public sale. Third, the snapshot page notes that holding a qualifying work “is not the same as a confirmed claim,” because vault and delegate resolution is still pending. The 1,167 figure is therefore a floor on qualifying wallets, not a final count.

What the Terms Rule Out

The terms page is unusual for a collection of this size in how much it declines to promise. It states there is no roadmap, no utility, and no future drops, airdrops, staking, tokens, events, or access. It says explicitly that Argonauts are not an investment and that “no one should buy expecting profit from the labor of ACK or the Muse Facktory.” Owning an Argonaut, per the terms, “does not buy access, governance, obligations, or the artist’s time.” Copyright stays with the artist; the holder owns the token and, once ordered, the print.

The artist statement is more direct still. “There is no founder, no utility, no one paid to hype anything,” it reads. “I don’t care what the floor price does. Buy them if you like them and have zero expectations beyond the art itself.” Whether a buyer takes that at face value is their call. As a matter of disclosure, it is clearer than most collections manage.

What the First Day of Trading Shows

Secondary data pulled from OpenSea on the evening of August 26 shows a collection that repriced sharply within its first day. The floor stood at roughly 0.295 to 0.305 ETH, about 2.5 times the 0.12 ETH sale price, with a top collection offer of 0.29 WETH. Earlier the same day the floor had been closer to 0.14 ETH, so most of that move happened within hours. First-day floors are set by a thin book and move in both directions, and a 2.5x premium is exactly the kind of number that can compress quickly once claim supply arrives.

Volume supports the price rather than contradicting it. OpenSea recorded 1,214 ETH in total volume and about 5,470 sales across the first day, against 864.96 ETH raised in the primary sale. Secondary turnover exceeding primary proceeds inside 24 hours is unusual for a collection whose terms disclaim any utility, and it suggests the buyer base extends well beyond the 1,167 snapshotted collectors and the public minters.

Supply was still incomplete. OpenSea listed 8,815 tokens minted against 9,999 total, so roughly 1,180 of the 2,791 free-claim tokens had not yet been claimed. Those enter the market over the one-month window, and any left unclaimed stay with the Facktory. An earlier read the same day showed 2,097 unique owners, about 24% of circulating supply, which is concentrated by the standards of mature 10,000-piece collections. That is partly structural: a single ACKPFP holder was owed ten Argonauts, and the public sale allowed multiple tokens per wallet. One caution on dollar figures: ETH moved during the sale window, so “roughly $2.1 million” carries a range of a few tens of thousands of dollars either way. The ETH figures are exact.

The Bottom Line

Argonauts is a 9,999-piece on-chain print run by an artist whose reputation was built on scarce one-of-ones, priced at 0.12 ETH for the digital with a free signed print attached. The public sale raised 864.96 ETH and sold out in minutes, and the floor traded at roughly 2.5 times the sale price by the end of the first day on more than 1,200 ETH of volume. Existing collectors were allocated 28% of supply through a block-pinned snapshot with a published formula, and the terms disclaim utility, roadmap, and investment intent in plain language.

Two numbers are worth watching over the next month. The first is the unique-owner ratio as claims complete; a climb toward 40% would indicate the collection is distributing into a broad base. The second is the share of tokens with the Print attribute reading Claimed, because that attribute will increasingly divide the collection into two products, one with a physical print attached and one without, and the secondary market has not yet priced that difference.
